Kindle 3G Network in Canada

I am pretty amazed with the simple Kindle Wi-Fi that allows me to read eBooks without hurting my eyes. With prices ranging from US$109 to US$379, it is enough reason for me to want to own a Kindle.

Yet Amazon took a step forward by improving their device with the use of 3G network signal that doesn’t add any monthly fee to Kindle users worldwide.

Let me say this again. Kindle 3G means that you will be connecting to the Internet using cellphone signal through AT&T’s global network. In the United States, you can browse the Internet using 3g networks, but Kindle 3G Canada will only allow you to download, purchase eBooks and connect to Wikipedia using the said connectivity.

Kindle 3G doesn’t mean Kindle’s third generation which are the Kindle Keyboard Wi-Fi, which connects exclusively through wireless Internet signal or Wi-Fi hotspots, and Kindle Keyboard 3G, which connects through Wi-Fi and cellphone signals that will let you connect to the Internet anywhere.

What Versions of Kindle 3G are available in Canada?

Except for Kindle Fire, which is still not available in Canada, all versions of Kindle mentioned below come with e-ink technology and 4GB internal storage. And except for Kindle DX, the two Kindle 3G versions feature a battery that lasts for two months.

1. Kindle Keyboard 3G
The best selling Kindle so far that comes with a keyboard and e-Ink Pearl technology, displaying images and texts sharper than any other versions of Kindle.

2. Kindle DX
Kindle DX comes with the biggest screen using the same e-Ink Pearl display.

3. Kindle Touch 3G
As the name suggests, Kindle Touch Wi-Fi/3G uses Touch and e-Ink technology.

All versions mentioned above can be checked and purchased through Amazon International site. Click the link for more details.

Why Amazon International Site?

I would personally recommend purchasing Kindle in Canada through Amazon’s International website. I had a friend who encountered an issue with her Kindle that freezes from time to time. She called Amazon’s customer service and they immediately replaced it within a few days (It was still under warranty). In addition, it is still cheaper to get it from Amazon than anywhere else. Amazon is also known for its reputation that guarantees secured online shopping. You can use your Canadian credit card and have it shipped directly to your doorstep.

Although Best Buy, Target and other online stores are selling Kindle at the same price, it comes with the inconvenience of having to set up your account on Amazon using your Kindle’s interface. Wouldn’t it be nice to use it right away after you take it out of the box?
